Stir Fried Curly Lettuce With Fermented Beancurd

I love greens and I know for sure I don't have the name of this veggie...I gave it a name though..curly lettuce :) but I know for sure that I heart this curly lettuce especially just lightly stir fry it. It is sweet and has a crunch. But for today, I stir fry these curly lettuce with chillies, garlic and fermented beancurd. This is the family favourite dish. The aroma of the fermented beancurd being saute was enough to set my stomach drumming away. The garlic and chillies added flavor to the lettuce and combined together it was really a wonderful dish. This dish is best served hot with a plate of hot brown rice. :)) a very appetizing greens dish.

the 4 important ingredients that made this dish delicious
bottom : chopped garlic
top : the 'curly lettuce'
left : chilli pad
right : the fermented beancurd

I don't like my veggie to be overcooked so I normally
just stir fry them till they are just cooked
and dish up...they still look green and crunchy

the fermented beancurd sauted together with the
garlic and chillies truly add flavor to 'curly lettuce'

Stir Fry ' Curly Lettuce' With Fermented Beancurd

ingredients:

300 gm of ' curly lettuce ' - washed and drained
2 pieces of fermented beancurd
3 pips of garlic - chopped
2 bird eye's chillies - cut into halves and remove seeds
2 tbsp of olive oil

Preparation:

Saute fermented beancurd and garlic with 2 tbsp of olive oil in a wok under medium heat , add in the chillies and stir fry till fragrant. Add in the ' curly lettuce ' and continue to stir fry till the veggie is cooked. Dish up and seve hot with rice.

Enjoy!

Korean BBQ Buffet At 'Riche Montana'

I will let the photos do the talking this time :)) I managed to snap a few pictures only for most of the time I was busy cooking for them to eat...see how lucky they are. Take the home chef Elin to the restaurant and they will be served well :p In our family, the birthday person will get to name the place they want to dine out and this time the birthday boy chose this korean restaurant- Riche Montana in Ipoh Garden South - coz this is the only place we have not been. So we had the celebration dinner at ' Riche Montana ' a restaurant which served korean bbq buffet. I would say the food was nothing much to praise about...common korean dishes but one thing I would want to praise about is their Kimchi...they have 5 types of kimchi....sorry I am not able to tell you the name coz I just could not remember the names :p getting older , memory shorten :)) Piggy gal and myself took many helpings of the Kimchi..... and most important we had a great time together. We didn't stuffed ourselves full even though there were lotz to eat becoz we still have the birthday cake waiting to be chomp down at home so we kept some space in our stomach for that decadent cheesiness :))

finger food for starters....bread sushi and maki sushi was nice
and the mini burgers and veggie tempura was good

I love this mini fish burgers with cheese....delicious!

the sushi rice are flavored...can't identify the taste though

I heart these cute bread sushi filled with ham and omelette
and cheese...for once I don't have to roll them but to
chomp them down in comfort :p

mouthwatering indeed...

Daddy went for the korean hot pot....lotz of veggies and tofu
beef slices , shrimps and fish fillets

dory fillets.. well marinated with wine and ginger juice..yumm

seafood delights....shrimps, dory and squids
while it was being grilled..the aroma sets our stomachs
growling......

the beef slices were well marinated with korean chilli paste
and fermented beans...tasted good

this is our favourite for the nite...
assorted fresh mushrooms stir fried on the grill pan
with kimchi......this is the best ever kimchi mushrooms
by Elin of course...put the home chef in front of the grill pan
and this is what you get * wink

mouthwatering enough for you ? :P

we had many rounds of Elin's kimchi mushrooms...:)))

Added the marinated squids in together with the mushrooms
and it tasted even better this time...flavorful and very korean-ish

try cooking kimchi with all the fresh mushrooms and
veggies available ...I am sure you will love it especially after
each grilled sessions...the aroma will
take you to heaven and back

time for some photos taking while waiting for the
food to be cooked.....just look at the birthday boy!
where has the smile gone?
Gals are somehow different...they smile more :))

I think they were both really hungry....see the way
they attacked the food!

see Piggy gal was all smile...why???
coz she knows the kimchi mushrooms will be ready
for chomping down soon....

I am most happy seeing him eating heartily
my baby boy has grown !
and he is 19 now :)))

** Josh , hope you enjoyed yourself tucking in all those korean dishes
and of course Elin's home baked cheese cake topped with fresh raspberries **

Happy 19th Birthday Josh

HAPPY 19TH BIRTHDAY JOSH :)

Once a year I get the chance To wish you birthday cheer.
It pleases me no end to say, I wish you another great year.
So happy birthday to you Josh, From the bottom of my heart.
And may your good times multiply, Till they’re flying off the chart!

By Karl Fuchs

Joanna: Quick... make a wish first before you blow the candle
Elin : Hey, watch out dude, you nearly drop the cake!

Joanna: Yo...quick, I can't wait to chomp down the cake
Josh: hey, wait a minute...my birthday or yours?
Elin * shaking her head

Elin's birthday present for her Piggy Josh
a delectable cheese cake with raspberries topping :)

every bite burst with cheesy richness mmmm
the two Jos enjoyed themselves much with
slices of heavenly cheesiness :))

truly a slice of heaven on earth
see the shines on the cheese cake?

even the dessert fork glimmers in anticipation
it can't wait to fork its way into the rich cheesiness
of this slice of heaven :p

Today is Piggy boy's birthday but we celebrated his birthday earlier . We had it last Saturday. I made him this beautiful cheese cake which I learnt on one of the baking lessons I attended. I was too lazy to frost the cake with chocolate and instead topped it with lots of fresh raspberries. The raspberries were not that sweet...slightly sourish but it somehow complements the cheesiness of the cake.

We took him to Riche Montana for a korean bbq buffet. We had a great time there savouring korean dishes and grills. It's not the food so much but the great time we had together. I will be posting up on some of the food we had there , so stay tuned for more food photos :))

* To Josh...enjoy your youth while you can.....you will be 21 in no time :p

May God continues to bless you with good health and happiness
all through the year and give you wisdom in your studies!
