Bet she was drooling when I told her about this dish over skype LOL!   Have been wanting to share this with my readers too but was just too busy with the other stuff and have forgotten about this dish I ate some months back and looking forward for another round...next time, we will try the most expensive range :P  I am sure my friend Claire will enjoy this again as much as I do :)  Read on for more info on this dish...............

Bento Banter - Breakfast Bento # 4

I have been stuffing myself with some artery clogging deliciousness lately while I was in KL  and now it is time to tone down a bit and eat something light and easy :)  Something light like sandwiches would be great and having bought myself a sandwich sealer , my new toy, I would of course want to play with it more often :p Seriously , this sandwich sealer is a great thing to have when making sandwiches. It helps keep the fillings from dropping off. Great gadget to have for sandwiches lover :)

Chill Out With Piggy Jo @ Pasta Zanmai, Mid Valley, KL

I was away the last few days, visiting  Piggy Jo ,and besides chilling out with her, I was there to help her shift from her present pigsty to another new sty nearer to her campus.  A family home is better than staying with the rest of the students - reason was during the summer break , she was  pretty much on her own and the place is so quiet and not SAFE at all for her.  Basically the former place housed mostly  international students and summer break is 4 mths - imagine how worried I was during summer time.  I am so glad that she managed to find a nice home , staying with family is so much better. She has a room with bathroom attached and with air con provided  for RM550 a month.  Thus, I was away for a few days...to help her move her stuff to the new home :)

And besides that, we had a wonderful time chilling out at Mid-Valley... what do you expect of these Piggies?shop shop shop ,slurp slurp slurp and oink oink oink away........had wanted to go to the Curve, but she said she does not know the way home...funny thing is she knows the way there but fogot how to take the road back :(  she said she will have to get a GPS soon....maybe I should give one to her this coming Xmas !  :p   We ate at Pasta Zanmai and the meal was GREAT...simply delicious !!!  Come take a look at what the Piggies ordered for lunch at Pasta Zanmai.   The two Piggies had their stomach filled to the brim.................... LOL!

Bento Banter - Bento # 3

This is something light and easy for me. A lunch meal that is not too filling and yet satisfying.  I like bento meal because I can just use whatever is left in the fridge and turn them into something delicious, fast and no fuss and take to office.  Nothing beats homecooked food.  Whipping out something nice is not hard for me for I have almost everything in the fridge except fresh fruits :p I have two refrigerators at home. One old fridge which I inherited from my dear beloved mom, for my cooking ingredients and my dog food :p and the other one is for the family 's ration LOL!

Pickled Salmon In Homemade Wholemeal Bun

I made a hearty breakfast using Dorie's Salmon In A Jar. I used up the last batch of my 2nd jar :) but will be making another jar soon :p  It is so convenient to have a bottle in the fridge. It is easy to make pickled salmon. You can refer  here for the recipe if you are interested to make some for yourself.  You can add them to your pasta, pizza and rice or sandwiches/bun .  I am excited to share with you this simple pickled salmon filling for your buns. This is good for busy working momsies and single person :)  Healthy and less washing to do ! :p

Bento Banter - Bento # 2

Made some tuna sandwiches for breakfast and packed them into bento box and gosh ...it was a cheerful breakfast :) with a  bear face smiling at me as I tucked in the tuna sandwiches.  Bento meal can be fun and at the same time nutritious. Since joining bento banter, I am now beginning to like meals packed in bentos. Fun packing them, one tends to make it more creative...like a simple hard boiled egg can be shaped into cute smiling bear face, star shape, love shape, little car and smiling bunny face.  I have a set of egg molds and love each and every one of them.  Happy that I can use them for making my lunch and breakfast bento more cheerful :) and guess what, I have added a new toy - a sandwich sealer to my kitchen assessories collection ( I think that is what it is called - helps seal the edges )  I know for sure I am going to have lots of fun  making my bento meals from now on :) And those cute octopus - haha too cute to even eat them :p

Cinnamon-Crunch Chicken - French Fridays With Dorie

When I ran through the recipe for this week FFWD, I was quite hesitant about cooking this dish for I was thinking of skipping meat and eat just salad for dinner . But the urge to try out this very French home cooking dish was too great to give it a skip :)  The ingredients involved looks stylish and taste haute. I am quite a glutton when it comes to food :p  And most important, I can compare notes with the other Doristas...cooking the same dish and sharing notes is the best thing that could happens to food bloggers :)  I am full of excitement when Friday comes.......

Bento Banter - Bento # 1

I love bento lunch boxes of different designs and shapes and I like anything  Japanese ....small portion of food packed  in a bento box...how nice...it helps to reduce my food intake by half and it keeps me happy when the food comes small and dainty :)  Not necessary it must be Japanese food but bento comes originally from the Japanese .  I packed mine here for the Bento Banter and I have to thank Biren of  Roti And Rice who is kind to invite me to join the Bento Banter group.

So here is my first bento lunch pack  I am sharing with all of you.  Bento food somehow taste better psychologically.....agree with me?  This bento box is quite cute , though it is meant for kiddies but I like the two tiers....just what I wanted so I carted it back :)  the right size for my lunch...have to control my diet...the doctor said I have gained 4 kg and have to do something about it.   Eat less fatty stuff and exercise more but looking at the food packed here, I doubt I will be able to shed off some fat :p

Creamy Cheesy Garlicky Rice With Spinach - French Fridays With Dorie

Just as the name suggested, this cheesy rice is creamy ,cheesy  & garlicky . Dorie's recipe called for Arborio or other round risotto rice but I used Basmati rice instead , and it turned out delicious ! This recipe will go well with pasta too and I shall try with pasta the next time I want something creamy , cheesy and garlicky :)  I reduced the amount of cheese , cream and butter and the result was just as good. Flavorful and tasty!

Yellow Glutinous Rice With Dry Shrimps Curry

This is something I would love cooking for the family and yet not allowed to eat more that this portion :(  Yellow glutinous rice with my favorite dry shrimps curry !!! This rice reminds me of my childhood whereby an elderly lady would peddled on her bicycle and sell this rice wrapped in banana leaves to the neighborhood where I stayed. We have to be early or the rice would be sold out. I remembered my mom would wait outside the house very early in the morning before the sun is even up  to buy us this for our breakfast :)   Mom's love is the greatest in the world !

Vegetarian Dish With Fresh Beancurd Skin/Tao Pao

This is a very common vegetarian dish for the chinese here . It has been quite a while since the last time I cooked this dish., if I am not mistaken...it was on  the 2nd day of  Chinese New Year this year...a few months already and now I have a sudden craving for it .  I found this special fresh beancurd skin, stacked in layers , which the chinese named it ' tao pao ' at the Kg Simee market...boy , this is my first time eating  ' tao pao '  and I love it !  I asked the seller how I should cook it and he taught me how to lightly deep fried the ' tao pao ' and add them to the chinese vegetarian dish.  Wow, we love it and shall cook this dish again !

Corn Soup - French Fridays With Dorie

I have never tried my hands at making creamy soup especially corn soup....I rather eat it roasted or steamed on a cob...but this Friday's chosen recipe is Corn Soup and I was contemplating whether to make this soup or not.  I would preferred it to be mushroom instead of corn BUT since I have never tried making homemade corn soup, I took up the challenge and I am glad that I tried it....a lovely comfort soup with a lovely subtle herbs fragrant in it.  Dorie has her way of making a simple soup taste good :) and I never regret buying her books !   Fridays are now french cooking for me anyway since I joined FFWD :p
