Japanese Pizza - Tortilla Base

I had this fusion pizza at a Japanese restaurant , Pasta Zenmai, at Mid Valley KL and I fell in  love with it the first time I set my eyes on it and when the first bite went into the mouth, I was ooo- ing over it . I told myself that I must  make this myself when I go back home to Ipoh  :)   Thin crust - tortilla was  used as the base - with fresh scallops and fresh button mushrooms with mozzarella cheese and japanese mayo...gosh... light and easy for the palate.  So to day, I am going to introduce to you the easy to whip up and yet delicious Japanese fusion pizza that will have wow you over :)  I replaced fresh scallops with shrimps :)

I bought a packet of ready tortillas from the Cold Storage ( there are not available in Ipoh ) but of course we can make our own at home but I am too lazy to make my own ...I will make my own when time permits :p So for the time being , ready made ones are a welcome.  The ingredients are tortillas , tomato paste mixed with ground black pepper and  some mixed herbs of your choice,  mozzarella , cheddar cheese, fresh brown button mushrooms , shrimps with shells removed and Japanese mayonnaise.  You can add in filling ingredients of your choice except that tortilla is a must have for the base . * I lightly sauteed the mushrooms and shrimps till half cooked with a tsp of olive oil and salt to taste, before putting them on the tortilla for baking. The baking time is 15 - 18 mins or till the mozzarella has melted and the tortilla starts to curl at the edges @ 180-200 deg C. depending on your oven.

Even Wild Boar who doesn't fancy pizza loves the tortilla base and requested for more :)  Feel free to drool over the pizza I made....but don't blame me if your stomach is drumming away :p  You have this as snacks, light lunch or dinner or even supper for some of us.....

Enjoy!

  9. This looks so good, I want to wrap it all up and take a big bite out of it! Yum!!! I have yet to try Japanese mayo...I'm afraid it might be too sweet for me. But I will try it soon (it's just a little pricy here).
